Advanced boiler and burner technology, in particular, the condensing technology of the ROTEX A1 converts the fuel used into usable heat with hardly any loss. This is both good for the environment and your wallet, since lower energy consumption means lower heating costs, less use of energy resources and a reduction in CO2 emissions.

Only condensing technology achieves this almost complete energy utilization. During this process, flue gases are cooled to the extent that the steam they contain is condensed. The energy created is used as heat for heating.

The following advantages of the ROTEX A1 oil condensing boiler speak for themselves:

  • Considerable saving on heating oil: Extremely high efficiency
  • Long service life: 10-year warranty against severe corrosion
  • Electricity-saving
  • Extremely quiet operation
  • Easy to operate
  • It can be operated using all the commercially available heating oil types (standard and low sulphur)
  • It can be installed directly beside safety heating oil tanks
  • Complete unit with blue burner, digital electronic control system, pump and safety group
  • Electronically regulated circulating pump
  • With LAS as standard for ambient air-independent operation
  • 3 different output variables available
  • Ready for bio-oil – Equipped for using heating oil with 20% biogenic components

Saving heating oil - A comparison:

Condensing oil boiler – Conventional oil boiler

Your heating consumes more energy than your car.
So save in the right area. The development of the price of crude oil is currently undergoing dramatic change. The consumer is almost defenseless with regard to this increase in price, especially with regard to domestic heating. With the car, costs can be reduced by using it less and therefore reducing the consumption of fuel. However, this is not possible de facto with domestic heating.

It is only when constructing a new building or when modernising a heating system that you have the chance to reduce energy consumption considerably over the next 20 years by investing in a highly efficient technology.

If you opt for a condensing/solar heating system  at this point, you will be able to significantly reduce your energy costs in the long-term. According to the German energy saving ordinance (EnEV) and DIN 4701, Part 10, upon which it is based, this can be as much as 50 %. Anyone installing a conventional boiler nowadays is wasting energy.

Example

Single-family house with heating oil consumption of 3,500 ltr/year when using a modern boiler.
As is usual nowadays, the boiler is operated using ambient air.

The alternative condensing oil boiler is operated independently of ambient air as standard and installed inside the warm building shell.

According to DIN 4701 T 10, the energy-saving potential of the condensing oil boiler compared to the conventional boiler is approx. 17 %. This produces the following oil consumption values:

Oil boiler

Ready for Bio-Oil

Oil heating is becoming regenerative

All ROTEX A1 condensing oil boilers are identified with "Ready for Bio-Oil".

They have already been modified in such a way that they are equipped for using heating oil with 20% biogenic components. Depending on the type and extent of the biogenic mix, the burner may have to be adapted, but it can always be retrofitted. Up to now, copper pipes have frequently been used for the connection between the oil tank and the boiler. This can lead to serious problems, at the latest when using bio-oil. In response to this, ROTEX has developed the plastic oil supply line VA-Oil.

ROTEX VA-Oil is the first oil supply line approved by DIBT made from a composite of plastic and aluminium (PE/Al). Regardless of which heating oil quality is used, VA-Oil behaves completely neutrally and therefore guarantees safe and breakdown-free operation of the oil boiler.

The use of solar energy is becoming increasingly important

The easy combination of the ROTEX A1 with solar energy recovery was therefore taken into consideration during the development. The ROTEX A1 condensing boiler can be directly combined with the ROTEX Solaris solar system. In this system, solar energy is used both for water heating and heating support.

This extensive use of solar energy guarantees additional energy saving and therefore a highly favorable assessment in the context of the German energy saving ordinance (EnEV).

The ROTEX Sanicube solar storage tank is characterised by resistance to corrosion and optimum water hygiene (tested by Tübingen University).

Doubly regenerative: Bio-oil and solar

In order to cover the annual heating requirements, the proportion of regenerative energy can once again be considerably increased by combining the ROTEX A1 BO 15bio with ROTEX Solaris. During the summer months heating requirements can be covered regeneratively to a great extent. In the case of a solar system with heating support, there is also significant proportion during the transitional period. An annual average regenerative energy use of up to 56 % can be achieved for an average single-family home.
Diagramm Energieverbrauch 11
The diagram shows the monthly energy consumption of an average single-family home.
It compares two system types:
  • The grey bar represents energy consumption using an old boiler.
  • The front bar shows a system with an condensing oil boiler (blue), solar energy use for hot water and heating (yellow) as well as a bio-oil mix of 20% (green).
In this example, the yearly CO2 emissions are reduced from approx. 7.6 tons (with an old heating system) to approx. 3.0 tons with a ROTEX system using the A1 BO 15bio and ROTEX Solaris (e.g. SCS 538/16/0 with 4 solar panels). This corresponds to a reduction in the CO2 emissions by approx. 4,600 kg per year for a single-family home.

A completely new boiler technology was developed for the ROTEX A1 boiler unit. In doing so, we consistently used modern high performance materials and avoided corrosive materials such as black steel or cast iron.

The boiler unit itself is executed in die-cast aluminium. Stainless steel corrosion-resistant pipes in which the heating water flows are also directly cast into the unit. The patented spherical shape of the boiler unit enables a compact design, unrestricted use of the condensing technology directly in the boiler without an additional heat exchanger as well as easy cleaning. Furthermore, the spherical structure allows good metal contact between the stainless steel combustion chamber and the cooling ribs of the boiler unit. This defines the combustion chamber's cooling process. This directly cooled combustion chamber is very effective in reducing the formation of nitrogen oxide (NOX).

There is room for a ROTEX A1, even in the smallest house

Installation options are virtually endless because none of the ROTEX A1 condensing boilers has a flue. It only requires a thin plastic flue gas pipe and can be operated independently of ambient air. Simply install the ROTEX A1 condensing boiler under the roof and you will gain space for your hobbies.

ROTEX A1 - Ideal for replacing boilers in existing systems

Content Oel Heizraum 09
The ROTEX A1 is eminently suitable for replacing your older boiler. Its considerable flexibility when incorporating existing systems, its light weight with the smallest of dimensions and the easy sanitation of the flue system make it a specialist here. With the ROTEX A1 you save on heating costs and protect the environment - without sacrificing maximum heating and hot water comfort.

Incidently, heating oil can also be stored in the heating room:

Content Oel Masse Heizraum 06
Turn the room you have so far used for storing heating oil into something else, e.g. a hobby room, a sauna or similar. In combination with the double-skinned safety tank ROTEX variosafe, the oil can simply be stored next to the boiler. Furthermore, no walling off or oil collection tank is required. Building regulations (German State Fire Codes) permit the storage of up to 5000 litres of heating oil in the installation room. It must be ensured that there is a minimum distance between the boiler and the safety tank of 1m if no radiation protection is available. The plastic lining of the ROTEX A1 condensing oil boiler acts as radiation protection and the temperature does not exceed 40 °C at any point. This has been confirmed by a TÜV report. As a result, a minimum distance of 10 cm between the oil tank and the A1 boiler is sufficient.

For handling purposes, we recommend a distance of at least 40 cm.

The boiler on which you can definitely depend on

It goes without saying that the emission values of all the boilers in the ROTEX A1 series are below the officially stipulated limit values of the first BImSchV and the "Blue Angel" according to RAL. The EC Efficiency Directive is complied with by all ROTEX A1 boilers.
