The gas condensing boiler integrated in the ROTEX GasSolarUnit is a development which has taken place by incorporating advanced combustion and heat technology knowledge. Easy to install, problem-free maintenance and exemplary energy efficiency are the result. By integrating the condensing boiler in the hot water storage tank, the surface losses in the unit are kept to a minimum. Losses as a result of cooling, as occur in usual boiler storage combinations, do not occur here. This ensures that you save even more energy.

Dream dimensions for your heating: Heating and hot water over an area of only 0.36 m²

It doesn't matter whether solar energy is used or not, the ROTEX GasSolarUnit is an optimum combination of highly efficient condensing boiler and hygienic hot water storage tank. Through the uncompromising grouping of these functions, the GasSolarUnit sets completely new benchmarks with regard to extra space and energy use. An area of only 0.36 m2 (GSU 320) or 0.64 m2 (GSU 520 S/530 S) is sufficient to accommodate the complete heating, water heating and solar stratified storage tank.

The following advantages of the ROTEX GasSolarUnit speak for themselves:

  • Minimum energy consumption through consistent condensing use and the integration of boiler and hot water storage tank
  • Optimum water hygiene
  • Space-saving, compact design
  • Solar energy use also for retrofitting
  • Active contribution against climate change and the greenhouse effect through a significant reduction in CO2 emissions
  • Pleasantly quiet operation
  • Easy and economical maintenance
  • Extensive government support for condensing boilers and solar systems

Innovative down to the very last detail

The GasSolarUnit is a hot water storage tank with an integrated gas condensing boiler. The hot water storage tank is filled with depressurised storage water. The storage water is heated via a stainless steel corrugated pipe heat exchanger via the condensing boiler. Alternatively, the storage tank can also be heated using solar energy. In order to heat domestic water, there is a stainless steel corrugated pipe heat exchanger inside the storage tank which is fitted over the entire water line of the storage tank.

Through the large heat exchanger surface, correspondingly large quantities of domestic water can be quickly heated. The storage tank always operates as a stratified storage tank. This means that the storage tank potential is considerably increased yet again and optimally used, especially when using solar energy. However, even without solar energy use, the stratified storage tank concept allows even larger hot water quantities to be handled.

The integrated boiler has a fully electronic digital control system. This ensures that the feed temperature is controlled by atmospheric conditions. It regulates the storage tank temperature and contains timer programmes which can be individually set for the heating and water heating.

Gas condensing boiler efficiency up to 110%

Through the innovative construction of the aluminium boiler unit with central combustion chamber and its spiral-shaped downstream heating surface, the ROTEX GasSolarUnit achieves excellent efficiency of up to 110%.

Water hygiene is our principle

As a result of its structure, the ROTEX GasSolarUnit is optimum from a water hygiene perspective, since the water to be heated is passed through to a pipe system and heated. The water content of the domestic water heat exchanger is currently 19/24 litres and is therefore only a fraction of the water quantities usually found in storage tanks. Areas with little current or which are not heated all the way through on the hot water side do not even come into question in the ROTEX GasSolarUnit range.

Domestic water is exclusively located in one pipe so that deposits of sludge, rust or other sediments, as can occur in containers with a large volume, are not possible. The water stored first is also taken out first (First-in-first-out principle).

The outstanding water hygiene advantages of this type of hot water storage tank were confirmed by extensive research carried out by the hygiene institute of Tübingen University.

Keyword legionella

Legionella bacteria

There are approx. 35 types of legionella. At least 17 of these are pathogenic. The most common consequences are: Pontiac fever: symptoms similar to flu which improve after a few days. Legionnaire's disease: severe bacterial lung infection. The infection is fatal in 15 to 20 percent of cases.

In the midst, not just a spectator

The compact design means that the space and installation work requirements are minimal. The complete gas condensing boiler with hot water and solar storage tank can be  installed in an area 59 x 61 cm (0.36 m2) or 79 x 79 cm (0.64 m2). Since the whole unit does not have to be fixed to a wall but simply stands on the ground over the full surface, assembly is child's play. Noise transmission from the unit to the building is effectively prevented.

NEW: GasSolarUnit GSU 320 - The space wonder

With the GSU 320, we have set completely new benchmarks with regard to exploitation of the space requirement. Your entire heating system is set up over an area of 59 x 61 cm. This includes water heating and a 280 l solar storage tank. It really could not be more compact. Thanks to its ideal dimensions, the GSU 320 has a place in every apartment and house. It ensures heating and hot water comfort which you will quickly be unable to live without. And you always have the possibility of connecting a ROTEX Solaris System to heat the storage tank using solar power and therefore save a considerable amount of energy when heating water.

As much sun as possible - As little energy as necessary

Content Gas mit Solar 08
The ROTEX GasSolarUnit (GSU 520 S/GSU 530 S) uses the free power of the sun not only for heating domestic water but also to effectively support the heating system.

If you do not want to decide on a solar system at the moment, the solar support of the ROTEX GasSolarUnit can be easily retrofitted.

The power of the sun without any detours

For solar energy use, the ROTEX Solaris solar panels are used. In addition to these, a regulation and pump unit and a connection set are required. The storage water from the ROTEX GasSolarUnit is taken from the deepest and coldest point of the storage tank and directly transferred, i.e. without heat exchanger, to the solar panels. There the water is heated and then stratified in the GasSolarUnit again. This ensures that the efficiency of the solar panels and the overall use of the system is again considerably increased . The entire Solaris system operates unpressurised during this process.

If there is insufficient sunlight or if the GasSolarUnit does not require any further heat, the supply pump switches off and the whole solar system empties into the storage tank. The addition of antifreeze agents is not required, since the panel surface is not filled with water when the system is not operating. This is a further plus point from the environmental perspective.

2) Explanation: The specific water flow as defined in EN 825 is the domestic hot water flow which the GasSolarUnit can supply at an average temperature increase of 30 K with two successive withdrawals of water of ten minutes duration each, assuming a charging temperature of 65 °C. An interval of 20 minutes is normally assumed between the withdrawals. The GasSolarUnit achieves these values even with shorter intervals.

ROTEX A1 Gas condensing boiler

Advanced condensing technology

The ROTEX A1 is a ready-to-connect gas condensing boiler with built-in electronic control (THETA 23R), modulated gas surface burner, circulation pump and safety group. Efficiency levels of up to 110% and extremely low contaminant emissions are achieved through consistent condensing use. The light weight, the high corrosion resistance (10-year warranty against severe corrosion) and the easily installed plastic flue system make the ROTEX A1 ideal for new buildings and refurbishments. For water heating, we recommend the hygienic ROTEX Sanicube hot water storage tank.

The features

  • Higher efficiency level up to 110% through condensing use
  • TWINTEC® boiler body, corrosion-resistant and long-life
  • The modulated operation of the burner in the range of 5 to 25 kW and 8 to 40 kW constantly adapts boiler output to requirements.  At the same time, there are huge output reserves available (e.g. for heating and water heating).
  • Emissions are low thanks to the state-of-the-art surface burner
